Privacy & Cookie Policy

1. Who we are

Washington Microbreweries is operated by HerbDeliveries.com, LLC ("we", "us", "our") at washingtonmicrobreweries.com. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site. Contact us at support@herbdeliveries.com for any privacy-related enquiries.

2. Data we collect and why

We collect and process personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so.

2a. Data you give us voluntarily

  • Brewery suggestions — when you submit the "Suggest a Brewery" form we collect the information you enter (brewery name, city, notes, and optionally your name and email address). Lawful basis: legitimate interests (improving our directory). We retain this data for up to 24 months.

2b. Data collected automatically

  • Server logs — standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamp) are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
  • No first-party analytics — we do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other behavioural tracking scripts on our own behalf.

3. Cookies & local storage

We distinguish between essential storage (required for the site to function) and third-party cookies (set by external services you interact with).

Third-party cookies — Booking.com & Commission Junction

This site participates in affiliate programmes operated through Commission Junction (CJ Affiliates), a network run by Conversant LLC. Our lodging recommendations link to Booking.com's Affiliate Partner Programme via CJ. When you click a "Book on Booking.com" button:

  • You are redirected through a CJ tracking URL (jdoqocy.com) before reaching Booking.com. CJ may set cookies for affiliate attribution.
  • Booking.com may set its own cookies for booking, session management, fraud prevention, and personalisation.

We have no control over those cookies. Please review Booking.com's Privacy Policy and CJ Affiliates' Privacy Policy for full details. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (affiliate revenue that funds this free directory) — and only when you actively click a booking link.

4. How we share your data

We do not sell or rent personal data. We share data only:

  • With Commission Junction / Booking.com when you click a booking link (affiliate tracking as described above).
  • With hosting and infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
  • Where required by law (e.g. court order, regulatory demand).

5. International transfers

Our hosting infrastructure is located in the United States. If you are accessing the site from the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, your data may be transferred to the US. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission as the transfer mechanism.

6. Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data where there is no compelling reason to continue processing it.
  • Right to restrict processing — ask us to pause processing your data.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Rights related to automated decision-making — we do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling.
  • Right to withdraw consent — you may withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage or contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@herbdeliveries.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK, or your national supervisory authority in the EEA).

7. How to manage cookies

You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, or by visiting your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Note that refusing cookies will not affect your ability to browse our directory.

Additional opt-out tools: NAI Opt-Out | Your Online Choices (EU) | CJ Affiliates Opt-Out.

8. Data retention

  • Brewery suggestions: up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Server logs: up to 30 days.
  • Consent records (localStorage): until you clear your browser data.

9. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
